About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking a motivated and hands-on Trades Assistant to join our team at our Grong Grong Piggery in New South Wales.
This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) commencing in October 2026. Working alongside our Maintenance team, you'll play an important role in ensuring the site, equipment and infrastructure are maintained to a high standard.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, has experience with tools and machinery, and takes pride in maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the maintenance and repair of site buildings, equipment and infrastructure.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Assist with preventative and reactive maintenance tasks.
Carry out basic welding and fabrication duties.
Support repairs to machinery and mechanical equipment.
Maintain workshop tools, equipment and spare parts.
Perform general site maintenance, repairs and housekeeping.
Work safely while following company policies and biosecurity requirements.
Assist the Maintenance team with other duties as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Experience working as a Trades Assistant, Farm Hand, Maintenance Assistant or in a similar hands-on role.
Experience using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
Basic to intermediate welding and fabrication experience.
Experience operating machinery or mechanical equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
A current driver's licence and reliable vehicle to travel to and from the Grong Grong Piggery.
The ability to work in a physically demanding environment and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Mandatory Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must:
Be available to commence employment in October 2026.
Hold a current Australian driver's licence and have reliable transport.
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including a Drug & Alcohol screening.
Be willing to work in a piggery environment and comply with all biosecurity and animal welfare requirements.
